The Kenya School of Government (KSG) has launched a new eLearning and Information Technology Institute (eLITI) to expand digital skills across the public service.
The launch coincided with the graduation of 1,239 public officers who completed the UNESCO–Oxford Programme on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation in Government.
From learning centre to institute
The new institute builds on the Kenya Development Learning Centre, established in 2003, which later became the eLearning and Development Institute. It will focus on digital learning, ICT skills, emerging technologies and research for the public sector.
During the launch, KSG showcased virtual reality simulations, AI applications and AI agents it has developed for deployment through Konza Technopolis.
Taking skills to communities
The school also plans to take digital skills training beyond its campuses through its “KSG Under the Tree” series, aimed at reaching communities that have limited access to formal training.
The initiative is part of a wider government push to digitise public services and build the skills needed to run them, as more services move online through platforms such as eCitizen.
