People get the government they deserve—and sometimes, they even manage to survive it. For millions across Kenya, this is their daily reality.
However, ahead of the 2027 election, millions more are already envisioning who they want in particular offices in just 277 days when voters will take to the polls on August 10.
Taking to social media, a section of Kenyans, prompted by former Law Society of Kenya president Nelson Havi- Senior Counsel, listed whom they really wanted in top government offices ranging from the president to Attorney General.
“This, for me is the working formula for change of Government. Let Edwin Sifuna run for President and be deputized by Irungu Kangata or John Methu. Fred Matiangi, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa and any other presidential aspirant in the United Opposition should run for Senate and secure votes for Edwin Sifuna from their respective Counties. H E Rigathi Gachagua and H E Kalonzo Musyoka should be “supreme leaders” in charge of the presidential campaign and the Government to be formed,” said Mr Havi on November 6, 2026.
Nairobi Post took a turn about Kenyans’ opinions on the post and compiled the following list:
President
- Incumbent President William Ruto.
- Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna- Linda Mwananchi Movement party leader and presidential aspirant.

In the August 10, 2027, Kenyans are expected to cast their votes for a total of 1,882 directly elected seats across six distinctive elective positions.
For the posts of Attorney General and Cabinet Secretaries, their positions are nominated by the President, approved/disproved by Parliament and then officially appointed by the President if they pass vetting.
However, in the 2010 Constitution of Kenya, there is no official position of Prime Minister as the President is both Head of State and Head of Government. Such sentiments for a Prime Minister position emanate from the historical position held by the late Raila Odinga, Kenya’s most notable opposition leader, between 2008 and 2013 under the Grand Coalition arrangement following the post election violence witnessed in 2007.
