Fatuma Kaingu, a 22-year-old woman from Mombasa was left blind after rejecting a marriage proposal.
Kaingu’s life took a devastating turn when Mohamed Mwarandu Kombe, a suitor she had turned down, poured acid on her face in a fit of rage.
According to reports, Kaingu had been dating Kombe for a while before she declined his proposal.
Unable to accept her rejection, Kombe resorted to a horrific act of violence, dousing Kaingu’s face with corrosive liquid, leaving her permanently blinded.

Kaingu recounted the traumatic incident, detailing how Kombe forcibly sprayed her eyes with the corrosive liquid, causing excruciating pain and rendering her helpless.
Despite her pleas for mercy, Kombe callously proclaimed that she would never again behold the face of another man.
Court Sentences Kombe To 30 Years In Jail
During the court hearing, Mombasa Senior Resident Magistrate Gladys Ollimo expressed deep sorrow for Kaingu’s irreversible loss, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.
Kombe, driven by anger and rejection, inflicted a lifelong disability upon Kaingu, depriving her of one of her most crucial senses.
Magistrate Ollimo sentenced Kombe to 30 years in prison for his grievous crime.

Despite Kombe’s plea for leniency, citing his young family, the court upheld the severity of his actions, acknowledging the irreparable harm inflicted upon Kaingu.
