In a shocking turn of events reminiscent of recent clashes between security forces, an altercation erupted at Likoni Ferry, sparking outrage among the public.
The incident, which occurred shortly after a similar confrontation in Lodwar involving KDF soldiers and police officers, unfolded at approximately 1812 hours.
According to a recorded statement filed under OB 40/27/4/2024 at 1800 hours, officers from Ferry Police Station were on duty at the lock-up when a military tactical Land Cruiser arrived from the town, blocking the exit lane.
Navy officers emerged from the vehicle and initiated an assault on the security guard, identified as Ismax, who sought assistance from the police present.

Efforts by the police officers to intervene were met with further violence as they too became targets of the assault.
Among those injured were PC Emmanuel Chigunda (No. 243996), PC Anwar Hassan (No. 243245), and security guard Wilson Obenge. The severity of their injuries resulted from the attack.
Witnesses reported a tense atmosphere as members of the public expressed a desire to retaliate against the military personnel.

However, police officers managed to contain the situation, preventing further escalation.
Subsequently, the military officers departed in their tactical vehicle, registered under plate number 00 KA 03J, heading towards an unknown destination.
