The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party is poised for a significant leadership shift, announcing plans to appoint Kithure Kindiki as the new Deputy Party Leader following the anticipated court verdict on Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar clarified that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) is awaiting the court’s decision before officially making the transition.
Omar emphasized the party’s commitment to a smooth leadership change, stating, “Once the process in the courts has been concluded, we will sit down as a party and ensure that we replace the Deputy Party Leader with the new one.”

This announcement comes in the wake of Gachagua’s ongoing legal battles, with Omar suggesting that Gachagua should reconsider his approach and settle his political matters outside the courtroom.
The UDA’s leadership transition follows Kindiki’s nomination by President William Ruto on October 18, after the Senate’s decision to impeach Gachagua.

Omar remarked that if Gachagua wishes to regroup politically, he should do so without obstructing the party’s progress.
“If he wants to go and regroup himself and reorganize politically, we wish him all the best but let us move on,” Omar stated.
Gachagua’s legal team has argued that the impeachment process was flawed, citing concerns over the timing of the Senate’s decision while he was hospitalized.
