Cha Ngoo village in Mwingi is reeling from a devastating tragedy after a fire claimed the lives of twin toddlers on Wednesday.
The one-year-nine-month-old twins were asleep at home when the inferno broke out.
Their mother, who had briefly left to work at her nearby shop, returned to find her home engulfed in flames.

Heartbroken neighbors attempted to battle the blaze but were unable to rescue the children.
The tragic scene was confirmed by local chief Barnard Musili, who noted that the cause of the fire remains unclear.

The father, Mutati Kavengi, who had been working in Nairobi, rushed back to Mwingi upon receiving the heartbreaking news.
Overcome with grief, he was unable to speak, as the charred remains of his children were taken to Mwingi Hospital mortuary.
