Six students from St Theresa Bikeke High School who were heading home for the mid-term break are now fighting for their lives in hospital after a grisly accident along the Kitale-Eldoret Highway.
The accident involved a tuk-tuk carrying the six students, a trailer, and a motorcycle.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred when the tuk-tuk driver, attempting to avoid hitting a boy on a bicycle, lost control and collided with an oncoming trailer at high speed.

Tragically, the tuk-tuk driver died on the spot. The students were rushed to Kitale General Hospital with serious injuries.
A video posted by Nation Africa shows an ambulance from Galilee Hospital leaving the scene at a nerve-wracking pace with its siren blaring as it transported the injured to the hospital.

Many residents gathered around the scene, some wailing loudly as they recounted the horrific accident.
A parent speaking to the press expressed her prayers for the students’ recovery, given the severity of the accident.
Area police boss Pius Ndunda confirmed that four people sustained serious injuries and that the tuk-tuk driver had died at the scene.
