Tragedy struck as 11 Kenyatta University students lost their lives in a devastating road accident while en route to Mombasa for an academic trip.
The accident, which occurred on the rain-soaked Mombasa-Nairobi highway in Maungu, Voi, involved a collision between their school bus and a trailer.
Confirming the heartbreaking news, Voi Sub-county Police Commander Ibrahim Daffala revealed that 10 students succumbed to their injuries on the spot, with another student passing away later in the hospital.

Additionally, 42 students sustained severe injuries, while four others suffered minor wounds in the collision.
Eyewitnesses described the harrowing scene, highlighting how the trailer veered off the road in an attempt to avoid a head-on collision, ultimately striking the school bus on its left side.

The tragic incident has left the entire community in mourning, as the victims were public health students eagerly embarking on an educational journey.
The survivors, numbering four, were fortunate to escape unscathed and were promptly taken to Maungu Police Station for further assistance.
