Crowds, dressed in black, gathered to pay their final respects, with many unable to hold back tears as they mourned Desree Moraa’s tragic death.
A video of the burial, attended by key figures, surfaced on TikTok, showing attendees wearing somber expressions, struggling to believe that Moraa was gone.
Her mother, dressed in a black gown and sunglasses, was visibly grief-stricken.
Supported by two people, she managed to summon the strength to toss a handful of soil into her daughter’s grave, a customary act before the burial is completed.

Moraa’s white casket was surrounded by a large number of her fellow medical interns and healthcare practitioners, who had reportedly pooled funds to help cover the funeral expenses.
For hours, her colleagues took turns eulogizing her, with many laying the blame for her untimely death on President William Ruto’s government, accusing it of failing to honor the promise of timely payments for medical interns.

How did Moraa die?
According to Nation Africa, Moraa had been struggling under the pressure of excessively long working hours.
On the day of her death, a Sunday, she had reportedly worked for over 36 hours straight.
She had been stationed at Gatundu Level Five Hospital and was living with a friend in a one-bedroom apartment because she couldn’t aff, was found dead on the balcony of the apartment where she lived alone.

Her body was discovered by police, hanging from a rope tied to the balcony railing.
Officials said they found a suicide note in which she expressed feelings of stress and being overworked.
Her family, heartbroken by the loss, is still trying to come to terms with the tragedy, while the exact motive remains under investigation.
