Tragedy struck in Taita Taveta yesterday evening when a minibus lost its brakes and crashed at the notorious Josa Bend, killing six people, including four students from Dr. Aggrey Boys’ High School.
The students were on their way home after a second fire incident at their school forced its closure.
As the vehicle descended the steep Wundanyi-Mwatate road, the brakes reportedly failed, sending it careening off course before crashing.

Among the victims were the driver of the minibus and a parent who had traveled to the school to pick up their child.
Several survivors were rushed to Moi Referral Hospital in Voi and St. Joseph Mission Hospital for treatment.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as devastating, with rescuers struggling to retrieve those trapped in the wreckage.
