Tragedy struck in Kisii and Kajiado counties as two separate accidents claimed the lives of at least seven people, including a police officer, and left seven others hospitalized, police reported.
The first accident occurred in Kisii town along the Kisii-Migori highway early Saturday morning. At around 4 am, a lorry lost control and rammed into vehicles and pedestrians outside the Choma Choma Lounge club.

The crash resulted in the immediate deaths of three people, including Police Constable Catherine Omusula from Nyanchwa police station, the lorry driver, and an unidentified pedestrian.
Seven others, including two police officers, were seriously injured and rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The incident caused significant traffic congestion on the busy highway, which police worked for hours to clear.
Police spokesperson Dr. Resila Onyango described the incident as tragic and confirmed that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident.

In a separate incident on Friday night, a head-on collision along the Loitoktok-Emali highway in Kajiado County claimed the lives of four people.
The accident, which occurred in the Lunguswa area at about 8 pm, involved a salon car and a lorry.

The salon car, carrying two women, a man, and a four-year-old child, collided with the lorry, resulting in the deaths of all four occupants.
Police responded to the scene, and the bodies were moved to a local morgue pending autopsy and further investigations.
