Residents of Mai Mahiu witnessed horrific scenes this afternoon when a matatu carrying passengers was involved in a gruesome accident, reportedly killing 10 people.
A video circulating on social media shows the aftermath of the collision, with the matatu severely damaged after crashing into a lorry.
Onlookers gathered at the scene, where bodies were scattered around the wreckage of the ill-fated vehicle.
Eyewitnesses can be seen in the video covering their mouths in shock as they took in the tragic scene, while others attempted to help with rescue efforts.

According to a man recording the video, no one survived the accident.
He described how the Nissan matatu was completely torn apart, and all passengers on board perished at the scene.
