Kenyans have been thrown into mourning following a horrific road accident on the Kisumu-Kakamega highway, where a tanker lost control and collided with two matatus, killing at least 10 people and injuring many more.
The devastating incident occurred at around 6 pm at the Iguhu River Yala Bridge, leaving a trail of destruction and a community in shock.
As the tanker, which was heading towards Kakamega, veered off course, it rammed into the two matatus packed with passengers traveling towards Chavakali, causing an instant tragedy that has sent shockwaves across the country.
Reports indicate that the collision was violent, with the tanker severely damaging both matatus. The death toll currently stands at 10, but the number of casualties is expected to rise as several of the injured are in critical condition.

Ambulances rushed to the scene, and those injured have been transported to nearby hospitals, including Mbale and Kakamega Referral Hospital, where they are receiving urgent medical attention.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with bloodied passengers trapped in the wreckage and others struggling to escape the mangled vehicles.
The majority of those injured were taken to hospitals in serious condition, prompting concerns about the lack of proper road safety measures and the pressing need for reforms in the transport sector.
