The identity of three people who died yesterday after a light aircraft crashed and burst into flames in Malindi has finally been revealed.
Surprisingly, the three were not onboard the ill-fated aircraft but were people going about their daily activities outside the busy town.
Two of them were a boda boda rider and his pillion passenger, who emerging reports say was the headteacher of a nearby primary school.

Ms. Maomy Nyiro was the headteacher of Msabaha Primary School, located just a few kilometers from where the accident occurred.
Her head was severely crushed after the aircraft’s propeller struck her, killing her instantly.
Her boda boda rider was identified as Hamisi, while the bystander, who also died after being burned beyond recognition in the explosion, was identified as Felix.

To the shock of many, two people—a student and his trainer—who were onboard the aircraft, escaped with minor injuries.
Videos Surface of Plane Billowing in Flames
The accident happened yesterday, Friday, January 10, 2025, and during that time, horrifying videos surfaced on social media showing parts of the aircraft billowing in flames.
Residents were seen rushing to the scene but were unable to save any lives, as the three had already died.
Fire sirens and an ambulance were seen at the scene, and police later cordoned off the area to investigate the cause of the grisly accident.

This incident, which left the country in mourning, comes just a week after an aircraft with 177 passengers onboard crashed in Korea, killing all but one passenger.
The plane, operated by Jeju Air, one of the country’s budget airlines, was attempting to land when it skidded on the runway, crashing into a wall and bursting into flames.
