One described seeing passengers peering out anxiously, while others lamented the driver not hearing them out.
Despite their pleas, the witness narrated how the bus continued hurtling at breakneck speed, only to falter in braking as it approached the steep Nithi hill, culminating in the tragic accident.
Four individuals—two men, a woman, and a child—have been confirmed dead, with concerns looming over the possibility of further casualties due to the extensive number of serious injuries sustained.

County rescue services manager Alex Mugambi affirmed that the bus, carrying 39 passengers from the Maua area in Meru county, reportedly experienced brake failure.
Earlier, Tharaka Nithi county police commander Zacchaeus Ngeno verified the accident, expressing fear over the potential loss of lives and numerous injuries.
