Cape Media’s Radio 47 experienced a loss of access to its highly followed Facebook account this morning due to a hacking incident.
The account, which had accumulated over 400K followers, had recently seen substantial growth following the media house’s recruitment of esteemed journalists from other organizations.

As of now, the hackers have not issued any statements or posted any inappropriate content, unlike the incident involving Royal Media’s Citizen TV last year, where hackers went live after gaining access to their accounts.
In that instance, a group associated with a digital currency called Cryptocurrency took control of the channel, which had over three million subscribers, renaming it Ethereum (US) and streaming discussions about digital currency, much to the surprise of Citizen TV’s online viewers.

Additionally, the hackers briefly controlled some content uploaded to the Citizen TV YouTube channel.
Fortunately, Citizen TV managed to regain control of its channel, recovering all its content.
