- During the ceremony, mourners were shocked when Ezekiel Otuoma’s body reportedly refused to enter his former primary school, causing confusion and drama
- The incident was confirmed by a video in which a football coach explained that the body had only agreed to be taken home, not to the school venue
The burial of Ezekiel Otuoma, a revered Kenyan footballer whose life took a tragic turn after contracting a mysterious illness in 2020, took place yesterday in Gem Constituency in a deeply somber ceremony.
Mourners came from far and wide, including renowned Kenyan TikTokers such as Hanna Benta, Obidan Dela, and Cindy, among others.
His wife, Rachael, was visibly torn with emotion throughout the ceremony, and when it came time for her to speak, she eulogized him with tender words.
However, during the moment when the body was being transported from the ceremony venue to the burial site, Rachael had an altercation with the hearse driver, as videos shared on TikTok suggest.
Rachael, who was seated at the front of the hearse—a four-wheel-drive vehicle with a caravan carrying the body—lectured the driver, demanding to know why he was speeding in a manner that seemed to show disrespect for her late husband.

She instructed him to slow down and, in an angry tone, emphasized the need for a smooth ride, despite the fact that her husband was deceased.

It later became clear that the driver was indeed speeding, as boda boda riders behind the hearse could be heard urging the driver to reduce his speed.
The driver was heard explaining to Rachael that he had been asked to rush, but Rachael could not hear him and insisted that he listen to her.

Otuoma’s Body Refuses to Enter Former Primary School Venue
In a related development, the body of the former AFC Leopards player reportedly refused to enter the venue set up at his former primary school, causing a standstill and drama.
Mourners, particularly those from outside the Western region where the belief that a body can refuse to enter a place is not common, were left astonished and shared their experiences online.
One of the mourners, Hanna Benta, who shared a video of the unfolding drama, can be heard questioning whether it was true that the body had refused to enter the school, asking how that was even possible.
Reports were later confirmed by a separate video showing a football coach addressing a group of mourners, explaining that the body had refused to enter the primary school venue but had agreed to be taken to his home.
