A police officer on night patrol in Migori County was discovered dead shortly after receiving a call from his wife.
The officer, identified as Gipson Omari, attached to Suna West Sub County, allegedly shot himself in the chest in the presence of his family.
Nyatike Sub County Police Commander, Dorothy Migarusha, reported that the 31-year-old officer was rushed to Life Care Hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
According to Migarusha, Omari had been on a routine night patrol with another officer when he abruptly left around 3:30 am after receiving a call from his wife.

Moments later, a gunshot was heard, prompting the other officer to rush to Omari’s residence, only to find him gravely wounded.

Initial investigations suggest that the call Omari received was a request from his wife to purchase electricity tokens.
Tragically, upon returning home, instead of attending to the household matter, Omari took his own life.
