Police officers in the city have launched a manhunt for a gang that allegedly robbed a woman Sh3.6 million in Industrial Area.
The woman informed the police that she was standing outside a petrol station located along Lunga Lunga Road when the gang approached her before making away with the money.
“They threatened me with death if at all I tried to raise any alarm,” the woman said in a statement recorded at the Industrial Area police station.
According to her, she had withdrawn the cash from the bank and was headed home with plans of boosting her business when the gang attacked her.
She said that she stopped her car right at the entrance of the petrol station to take her medicine.
As she was taking the pills, she heard a bang on the car window which broke into pieces.
Then two men who were on a motorcycle and who were wearing facemasks ordered her to surrender the money. She also claimed that they were armed.
She heeded the orders and handed the cash and the gang sped off. She reported the matter and police visited the scene to confirm the same.
Currently, sleuths attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have managed to obtain a CCTV footage which they believe will assist them in the ongoing investigations.
Nairobi police commander George Sedah said a team of detectives is pursuing the gang.
Cases of gangs operating on motorbikes and robbing members of the public have been on the increase especially in Nairobi County.
