Police have arrested six individuals, including four police officers, in connection with a case of stealing from a locked motor vehicle.
The incident was first reported at Mihango Police Station on April 29, 2024, and detailed in OB 29/04/06/2024.
According to a report from Kayole Police Station, the DCI teams from Nairobi Region and DCI Kayole acted on actionable intelligence, proceeding to Utawala on June 5, 2024, at approximately 1500 hrs, where they believed a suspect resided.

Upon arrival, the team discovered that unknown individuals had already apprehended the suspects around 0900 hrs using a white Subaru vehicle, whose registration number was not captured, and taken them to an unknown location.

Further intelligence led the officers to the public parking yard of Kasarani Police Station, where they found the vehicle, registration number GKB 019J, parked with six occupants around 1900 hrs.
The occupants included four police officers and two civilians.
The police officers were identified as Sgt. Antony Ndegwa Anwal, Cpl. Daniel Lekakeny Sunkuli, Pc. Simon Macharia Maina from DCI Kasarani, and Pc. Antony Mwenda from Ruai Police Station.
The civilians were identified as Lukas Magwaga and Young Wakise.

The DCI Kasarani was summoned to confirm if the officers were on official duty. In the presence of Kasarani OCPD, D/OCPD, and DCIO, a search was conducted, resulting in the recovery of Ksh.350,000 inside the car and Ksh.123,000 from the pockets of the police officers.
Additionally, two motor vehicles, registration numbers KCN 650U and KDK 052F, were found in the same yard. One vehicle belonged to Pc. Antony Mwenda, and the other to suspect Lukas Magwaga.
The recovered cash, suspected to be stolen, was kept as exhibits while the motor vehicles were detained at Kayole Police Station.
The four officers and two civilians were placed in custody to assist with the investigation. The case remains under active investigation by DCI Kayole.
