Opposition leader Raila Odinga, along with Wiper party boss Kalonzo Musyoka, has escalated their criticism of President William Ruto’s administration over its handling of the ongoing heavy rains wreaking havoc across the country.
During a visit to Mukuru slums in Nairobi on Friday, Odinga voiced his dissatisfaction with the government’s response to the torrential rains, which have resulted in loss of lives and displacement of thousands.
He emphasized the need for the flood crisis affecting various counties to be declared a national disaster.
However, he opposed the forceful evacuation of residents from high-risk areas without a proper resettlement plan in place.
