Narok court has awarded 23 Million Chinese Yuan (approximately Ksh457 Million) as compensation fee to the family of a Chinese female tourist, who was stabbed to death in 2016 by her fellow citizen after a quarrel over sitting space ensued during dinner at Keekorok Lodge in Maasai Mara National Park.
The family of the late Luo Jinli, 45, was further awarded 1 million Chinese Yuan (approx. KSh20 Million) for the emotional turmoil they underwent, adding that Keekorok Lodge Masai Mara is fully liable.

The family sued Keekorok Lodge Masai Mara saying that the late Luo Jinli met her death on account of the lodge’s negligence.
According to the court file in Narok court a female Chinese tourist was stabbed to death at Keekorok lodge in Maasai Mara National Park by her fellow citizen during a quarrel in 2016.
Another Chinese tourist who is the husband to the deceased was seriously injured during the incident after a Chinese tour guide attacked the couple following a tussle over sitting space during dinner.
Former Narok County Police boss Abdi Galgalo confirmed the incident in 2016 saying the Chinese tour guide has been arrested after the incident and was held at Narok Police station before being arraigned in court.
The injured Chinese tourist was rushed to Nairobi Hospital where he was receiving treatment.
The body of the deceased tourist was taken to a local mortuary.
The Chinese couple was in Maasai Mara to witness the wildebeest migration in the Mara.
