A 35-year-old man, identified as John Mwongera, has surrendered to police in Buuri East constituency, Meru County, following the brutal murder of his father and stepmother.
Mwongera allegedly used a machete to kill his father, Julius Kirimi, inflicting wounds on his right hand, right side of the head, left palm, and left shoulder, before attacking his stepmother, Eunice Kangai, causing cuts on her left upper hand, neck, head, and right ear.

According to Citizen Digital, police suspect that a dispute over land ownership may have triggered Mwongera’s actions leading to this tragic incident.
Bodies of the couple were removed from the scene by officers following the man’s surrender, as investigations into the matter kick pace.

Bodies of the deceased were transported to the mortuary at Mwenda Antu Hospital.

Police further stated that the man was detained, pending arraignment to face charges related to the incident.
“The motive of the murder is suspected to be land dispute. The suspect later presented himself to Kiirua police station with the murder weapon (panga) and he was placed in police custody pending arraignment in court,” adds the police report”
