A shocking sex scandal has led to the suspension of the entire Laikipia County Revenue Board, with Governor Joshua Irungu taking decisive action after allegations of sexual harassment and bribery surfaced.
On Thursday, November 28, 2024, Irungu announced the suspension of over 230 county tax collectors, all of whom have been implicated in the scandal tied to the recent recruitment process.
The governor emphasized that a thorough investigation is underway to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
“In light of serious allegations surrounding the recruitment process, I have taken the decisive step of suspending the Laikipia County Revenue Board to facilitate a thorough and transparent investigation into claims of bribery and sexual harassment,” Irungu stated.

The investigation comes after multiple reports from job seekers who were allegedly asked to pay bribes of between Ksh. 60,000 and Ksh. 80,000 to secure positions in the county’s revenue department.
Additionally, Irungu confirmed that the county had reinstated 230 revenue collectors and hired 20 new employees to replace those sacked for disciplinary reasons, raising the total number of revenue clerks to 250.
