Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse faced the wrath of angry constituents during a burial ceremony in the Ukambani area.
A video has surfaced showing furious youth and leaders physically attacking the MP, knocking him to the ground in retaliation for his “yes” vote on the finance bill.
The altercation began when the governor took the microphone to address the crowd, and the MP made a wry comment, prompting those nearby to silence him, reminding him he had no right to speak.

One individual seated near the MP was the first to react, fiercely hitting him with a bunch of papers. This act sparked a surge of funeral attendees, unhappy with the MP, to rush towards him.
A man from the local community is seen charging at high speed towards the leaders’ tent, pouncing on the MP and toppling him to the ground in a heated confrontation.

This incident disrupted the burial ceremony of nominated MCA, the late Magdalene Kalembe, wife of the late former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile.
As the MP was attacked, other attendees scrambled to join in, bringing the ceremony to a halt.
The video captures dust billowing and chairs being overturned as security personnel tried to escort the MP to safety, while more constituents attempted to reach the leaders’ tents to continue the assault.

According to Tuko, the burial rites and laying of wreaths were completed by the clergy and the family alone, as everyone else pursued the leaders who were being hurried to their cars by security.
The video also shows the family crying bitterly during the scuffle, holding onto each other, little expecting that a burial attended by thousands would end with only them burying their loved one.
