In a significant shake-up at Citizen TV, two prominent figures, political reporter Jane Chemutai Goin and crime and investigative journalist Hassan Mugambi, have announced their departure from Royal Media Services.
Goin, celebrated for her insightful political coverage and nearly a decade of experience in the media industry, is set to leave the network at the beginning of March.
She will be transitioning to a pivotal role as the principal media relations officer at the office of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.
With nearly a decade in the media industry, starting as an intern at KTN, Jane Chemutai Goin has ascended through the ranks, leaving her mark at various stations including Capital FM and a stint at Media Max, which owns K24 TV.
Her expertise spans pivotal political coverage, notably during the 2017 and 2022 General Elections, fluently delivering news in both English and Kiswahili languages.
At Royal Media Services, besides her role as a political and health news writer for the Citizen Digital platform, she has garnered accolades, including a Presidential Award on June 1, 2020.
News of Goin’s exit, alongside Hassan Mugambi, was first disclosed on Monday, February 12, indicating their moves to prominent government offices.
Mugambi, who joined RMS in September 2016 after his tenure at K24, has been an instrumental figure at Citizen TV, notably as a Swahili news anchor.
Upon leaving Citizen TV, the anchor will assume the role of communication advisor at Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale’s office.

His departure, alongside Goin’s, poses challenges for the station, which has seen recent talent acquisitions like Jimmy Mbogoh and Jasmine Wambui from Standard Media Group’s KTN News.
Both departures, following the footsteps of former colleagues like Sam Ogina, Francis Gachuri, and Raquel Muigai, leaves a notable void at the station.
Gachuri transitioned to the Ministry of Interior as the Head of Communications, while Ogina joined the Parliamentary Service Commission as a senior communications officer.
As departures continue, Citizen TV remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering quality news coverage, navigating these changes while welcoming new talents into its fold.
