Grace Njoki Mulei, a medical practitioner who made headlines for storming Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Barasa’s press briefing at Afya House last week, has been released on a Ksh.10,000 cash bail.
Njoki was apprehended Thursday night at Ladnan Hospital, Nairobi, where she had sought medical attention.
Her release from Capitol Hill Police Station on Friday, January 24, 2025, was marked by uncertainty, as the police remained unclear about the specific charges to press against her.

Njoki, who was accompanied by a team of lawyers and former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, gained freedom amid growing public intrigue over the incident that disrupted Barasa’s briefing.

Outside the police station, her lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, revealed that there was confusion over the legal grounds for Njoki’s arrest.
“The police seem uncertain about what exactly they are charging her with,” Njiru said, flanked by Sonko and other legal representatives.
