- The motion was adopted to allocate a total of Sh8 million for the implementation of this program in the upcoming budget
Kirinyaga County Assembly passed a motion recommending budgetary allocations for several education initiatives aimed at improving learning experiences across the county.
The motion, championed by the Education Committee Chair, Charles Nyamu, focuses on Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centers, digital learning, student bursaries, and vocational training.

The biggest takeaway is the allocation of Sh8 million towards a school feeding program for all 198 public ECDE centers.
This initiative aims to address hunger concerns among young learners and potentially improve attendance and concentration in classrooms.
Recognizing the growing importance of digital literacy, the Assembly proposed an additional Sh16 million for digital learning programs in these ECDEs.

Supporting Students at All Levels
The good news extends beyond ECDEs.
The Assembly plans to increase the bursary kitty for secondary, tertiary, and university students.
This boost, from Sh95 million to Sh148 million, is intended to ease the financial burden on underprivileged students and allow them to pursue their education.
Investing in Skilled Workforce
Vocational training institutes within the county will also see a funding increase of Sh5 million.
This allocation aims to enhance the capacity of these institutions, ensuring graduates have the necessary skills to contribute meaningfully to the county’s workforce.
