Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party Expresses Confidence Matiang’i Will Dethrone Ruto in 2027 as They Pick Him as Their Presidential Candidate
The Jubilee Party, under the leadership of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, has officially endorsed former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a leadership meeting in Narok on Saturday, January 25, 2025, Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni announced the decision, expressing confidence that Matiang’i has what it takes to unseat President William Ruto.
Kioni stated, “We as the Jubilee Party have our own candidate, Fred Matiang’i. He will face off with the others to ensure Ruto goes home.”

Kioni urged voters to unite behind Matiang’i, dismissing concerns over potential electoral interference.
“If we all agree to come together and vote, Ruto will not win even if he appoints Kimani Ichung’wah or Kamket as IEBC Chairperson,” he added.

The party’s endorsement aligns with growing speculation that Matiang’i has been gearing up for a presidential bid. Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka echoed the sentiments during the meeting, highlighting the need for broader alliances to bolster Matiang’i’s candidacy.
“We know that Matiang’i is going to win, but he cannot do it alone. We will talk to Kalonzo, Gachagua, Uhuru, and Raila for support,” Onyonka said.

The Jubilee Party has also called for Kenyans, particularly those in the Mount Kenya region, to back a leader from a minority community.
“We want a president from a small community. Let us step aside and let someone else in. Let us unite and vote as one,” Kioni emphasized.
