Former Likoni top sleuth Charles Onyango has been arrested by officers attached to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Mr Onyango is wanted for his involvement in criminal activities during his tenure in Likoni.
According to EACC communication boss Eric Ngumbi, he was nabbed in his Oyugis Home. Oyugis is in Homa Bay County.
“He was nabbed while in his home in Oyugis, Homa Bay County, ” he said.
EACC is planning to request for additional days to continue holding the suspect once he is produced in court.
EACC said that he will today be arraigned at the Mombasa Anti-Corruption Court.
The commission Chairperson David Oginde revealed on January 28 that the National Police Service (NPS) and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) were among the most corrupt institutions in Kenya.
The report revealed that families and professionals associated with individuals working in corrupt institutions are actively abetting graft.
”We have observed an emerging pattern and trend where public officials are enrolling the members of their families.
Their children, wives, husbands, and their relatives to be their proxies in stealing from the public,” Oginde shared.
The commission declared that it would be taking stern action against officers.
In the recent past a number of officers have been nabbed after they are linked to graft.
Most of those that have been affected include those working in the traffic sector.
