Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua broke his silence yesterday, October 6, 2024, seeking forgiveness from President William Ruto and Members of Parliament as his impeachment process intensifies.
Speaking from the National Prayer Altar at his Karen residence, Gachagua expressed deep remorse, asking Ruto to forgive him and his wife, Dorcas Rigathi, for any wrongs they may have committed.
“If I have wronged my brother Ruto, please find it in your heart to forgive me,” Gachagua implored, his voice heavy with emotion.
He extended this apology to include his wife, whose activities had also come under scrutiny in the impeachment motion.

“If my spouse has wronged you in any way, I ask for forgiveness,” he added, addressing MPs who had accused his family of benefitting from government tenders.
The Deputy President’s apology comes amid mounting pressure, as public participation for his impeachment concluded this week, leading to growing calls for his ouster.
