Five family members, including a woman and four children, lost their lives when their vehicle collided with a lorry in the Mbaruk area of Gilgil, Nakuru County.
The collision occurred when the driver of a Mercedes Benz, who was overtaking in the wrong lane, collided with a lorry traveling in the opposite direction.
According to Gilgil Sub County Police Commander Jamleck Ngaruiya, the personal car was en route to Nakuru from Gilgil, while the lorry was headed towards Nairobi from Nakuru.
Tragically, the impact of the crash resulted in the immediate death of the woman and the four children. Their bodies have been taken to the Gilgil Sub County Hospital Morgue.
The driver of the Mercedes Benz survived the accident and was transported to Gilgil Sub County Hospital for medical treatment.
Both vehicles have been towed to the Gilgil Police Station for further investigation.
