Tensions soared in Wajir after DNA tests confirmed on Thursday that a body recovered from Lake Yahud is not that of missing Wajir MCA, Yusuf Hussein Ahmed.
The family had anxiously awaited the results, hoping for closure since Ahmed’s mysterious disappearance on September 13 following an alleged abduction in Nairobi.
Pathologists from both the government and the family collected samples from Ahmed’s relatives, including his mother and two brothers.

Tissue samples from the unidentified body, which measured six feet two inches and was of Somali origin, revealed that the remains did not belong to the missing MCA.
Despite signs of blunt force trauma to the face, the body showed no burns or missing parts, but decomposition had severely damaged some areas.

Ahmed’s disappearance ignited widespread protests and accusations against security agencies, fueled by rumors that his body had been found.

County Commissioner Karuku Ngumo, however, denied any prior involvement of the Wajir County Security and Intelligence Committee, despite allegations that Ahmed had been summoned for a security meeting.
