  • Comedian Dem Wa Facebook revealed that her split with manager Andrew Mwiko was amicable, explaining that their one-year contract had simply come to an end
  • She emphasized that there was no bad blood between them, adding that Mwiko remains her best friend and they could collaborate again in the future if he wishes
  •  “Tulikuwa na contract ya mwaka mmoja, hatujakosana mahali, na bado tunaongea,” she affirmed during a recent interview.

Comedian Dem Wa Facebook, one of Kenya’s most beloved entertainers, has broken her silence regarding her professional split with her manager, Andrew Mwiko.

The comedian, whose real name is Lynet Okumu, addressed the rumors head-on, providing clarity on the circumstances surrounding Mwiko’s departure and dispelling allegations of conflict involving fellow entertainer and close friend, Oga Obinna.

In a phone interview with Milele FM presenter Ankali Ray, Dem Wa Facebook assured fans that there was no bad blood between her and Mwiko, whose exit sparked a wave of speculation online.

The rumors were fueled after Mwiko, who had managed the comedian for a year, announced his decision to step down earlier this month.

Andrew Mwiko’s Departure Sparks Speculation

Andrew Mwiko’s announcement took fans by surprise, as the duo had worked closely together for 14 months, delivering standout performances and building Dem Wa Facebook’s brand.

In a public statement, Mwiko revealed that he was leaving to pursue other ventures, a move he said was necessary for his personal growth.

Despite his statement, fans and observers were quick to speculate about underlying issues.

Social media buzzed with claims that internal conflicts, possibly involving Oga Obinna, had played a role in his decision.

Obinna, who has been a consistent supporter of Dem Wa Facebook, was rumored to be taking over as her manager—a claim that added fuel to the fire.

Dem Wa Facebook Speaks Out

Dem Wa Facebook took the opportunity to set the record straight during the interview.

Calmly but firmly, she explained that Mwiko’s departure was purely professional and a result of the expiration of their one-year working contract.

“Hatujakosana, hakuna shida between us,” she said, reiterating that their parting was amicable and there was no drama behind the scenes.

She described Mwiko as her best friend and even hinted at the possibility of working with him again in the future.

“Contract si huisha jameni, tulikuwa na contract ya mwaka mmoja. Andrew is my best friend na bado tunaongea. Tunaweza endelea na kazi pia akitaka tuendelee, hatujakosana mahali na hatuna beef,” she added.

Clearing Oga Obinna’s Name

The comedian also addressed persistent rumors that Oga Obinna had influenced the decision to part ways with Mwiko.

Fans speculated that Obinna’s growing role in her life and career might have led to tensions.

However, Dem Wa Facebook firmly denied these claims, clarifying that Obinna had no involvement in her managerial changes.

She stated unequivocally that she currently manages her own career, a decision she feels confident about. The rumors of Obinna stepping in as her new manager were dismissed as baseless.

Moving Forward with Confidence

Despite the speculation, Dem Wa Facebook remains optimistic about her future in comedy. She assured her fans that her career is on solid footing and that she is determined to continue thriving while managing her own brand.

Her decision to take charge of her career has been widely praised by fans, who view it as a bold and empowering move.

Dem Wa Facebook’s candidness about the situation has brought much-needed clarity, putting to rest the swirling rumors about conflicts and managerial shifts.

Among those who attended her recent events and have publicly supported her is Rachael Otuoma, widow of the late footballer Ezekiel Otuoma.

Rachael, during an earlier event, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dem Wa Facebook for standing by her during her most challenging moments.

This camaraderie, along with her professionalism, has solidified Dem Wa Facebook’s place as not only a celebrated comedian but also a loyal friend and supporter of her peers.
