- Popular comedienne Nasra Yusuf has come under fire, after a video she posted failed to impress Kenyans
- In the skit, Nasra, who acts as a man, hinted that Muslim men like to break fast in intimate ways and not with food as most people think, prompting Kenyans to gnaw her
- Majority said she demeaned her Muslim religion, while a cross section of others said there was nothing wrong as it was just a comedy video
Comedienne Nasra Yusuf has found herself in the spotlight, but not for the reasons she might have hoped.
A recent video she shared about how Muslim men supposedly prefer to break their fast has ignited a firestorm of criticism from Kenyans.
In the video, Yusuf jokingly suggests that instead of enjoying a meal, Muslim men opt for a more intimate activity with their partners.
The portrayal, intended as humor, has instead stirred up anger and highlighted a derogatory stereotype.
The one-minute clip depicts Yusuf, in the role of a fasting man, rejecting the customary meal offered by his wife.

Instead, he requests something more intimate, prompting the couple to retreat to the bedroom for what is implied to be a sexual encounter.
Only after this does the topic of food resurface, suggesting a secondary importance to breaking the fast.
Following the video’s release, members of Kenya’s Muslim community, in particular, voiced their disapproval, accusing Yusuf of trivializing religious practices and perpetuating harmful stereotypes.

The skit, presented in the form of a song, encouraged Jowie to use his time in prison to scam unsuspecting Kenyans.
Additionally, Mammito made several insensitive jokes about Jowie’s conviction, failing to acknowledge the gravity of the situation or show respect for the victim, Monica Kimani.
