Comedian Eric Omondi has gone missing just hours after his dramatic arrest by police at Bunge Towers, where he was protesting from the top of a horse.
His wife, Lynne Njihia, speaking to the press outside Central Police Station, expressed her dismay, and said there was growing tension as police claimed he was not at the station, despite videos showing him being taken there.
Lynne said her life has come to a standstill as Eric was preparing to bury his brother Fred Omondi and was scheduled to lead a vigil with the country’s comedians and celebrities at the Carnivore Hotel today, yet he cannot be found.

She called on the government to feel ashamed of their actions, emphasizing that Kenya is supposed to be a democratic country where citizens can demonstrate freely.
However, this promise has fallen short with Eric’s arrest.
Her statement comes just a few hours after videos circulated showing Omondi sitting atop a horse, chanting anti-tax slogans towards officers stationed near the parliament.
However, his demonstration was abruptly interrupted when police officers moved in to disperse him and the protestors who accompanied him.

The officers rushed towards him, dislodged him from the horse, and then whipped him several times before detaining him.
Fellow protestors quickly fled the scene, leaving him crawling on the road near parliament as the officers subdued him.
Omondi’s Previous Arrest Over Finance Bill
Despite being handcuffed, Omondi continued to shout, attempting to rally the remaining protestors to support him.

The protestors, many of whom were women dressed in sackcloth, were seen holding large placards demanding the intervention of Members of Parliament regarding the controversial bill.
They accused the legislators of betrayal and expressed fears that the bill would be passed into law.
