The fateful Incident unfolded on Monday night, around 9:00 pm, as the students were homeward bound aboard an Easy Coach bus.
However, their journey took a tragic turn when the bus overturned at the Mamboleo junction, shattering the tranquility of the night and plunging the passengers into chaos and despair.
Amidst the chaos, one student tragically lost his life, while two others sustained severe injuries.
Currently, they are receiving medical attention at Avenue Hospital in Kisumu, while an additional 32 students are undergoing treatment at the Jaramogi Oginga Teaching and Referral Hospital, grappling with the physical and emotional aftermath of the ordeal.

In the wake of the accident, authorities from Kondele Police Station launched an investigation, uncovering troubling details surrounding the driver’s absence from the scene.

According to their report, the driver was nowhere to be found following the crash, leaving many questions unanswered and deepening the anguish of those affected by the tragedy.
“It happened that the vehicle was negotiating the said Coptic roundabout on its way Kisumu general direction from Kakamega when the driver lost control, hit a rail guard, and the vehicle fell down at the edge of the road and rested on its left side,” detailed the police report, shedding light on the sequence of events leading up to the horrific accident.
