A tragic accident claimed the life of a pedestrian on Sunday night at Kapkwen area along the Bomet-Kisii highway after being hit by a Rembo Shuttle bus.
The pedestrian, attempting to cross the road, was struck by the bus, which failed to exercise sufficient caution during the busy evening hours, according to Bomet Central Sub-county Police Commander Musa Omar Imamai.

The bus was en route from Narok to Kisii, driven by a motorist unfamiliar with the area who had been issued a temporary permit to use the Narok highway during the festive season.
Omar noted that such incidents highlight the need for heightened vigilance, particularly in areas with heavy pedestrian activity.

Citizen Digital’s Wananchi Reporting reported that the fatal accident caused a massive traffic snarl-up on the highway, delaying vehicles for hours before normalcy was restored.
The victim’s body was taken to Longisa Hospital mortuary as authorities called for stricter adherence to road safety measures.
