The MCA was reportedly injured during a late-night scuffle with police officers on January 8 after attempting to block the impoundment of a truck ferrying illegal ethanol.

Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as Kimungui allegedly mobilized over 50 armed individuals to obstruct the police operation.

Injury Sparks Controversy
While the MCA’s family insists he was shot by police, Commander Mong’era refuted the claim, stating that the cause of the injury is under investigation.
“Preliminary findings suggest he may have been injured by a sharp object during the melee. However, this will be clarified once investigations are complete,” he said.
Kimungui was initially rushed to Bungoma County Hospital before being referred to Eldoret for advanced care.
Public Outcry and Crackdown
The incident has drawn widespread condemnation, with residents calling for an intensified crackdown on illegal goods and stronger measures to curb corruption among public officials.
