The body of Dr. Jairus Omuteche, a Masinde Muliro University lecturer who had been missing since Saturday, has been recovered from the Jordan River after an intensive three-day search.
Dr. Omuteche, a respected academic and philanthropist, was last seen heading to his farm near the river to prepare his cowshed.
Suspicion arose when some sticks he had cut were found floating in the river, prompting his family and local authorities to launch a search effort.

Ebulonga Location Chief Evans Ouya confirmed that divers discovered Dr. Omuteche’s body approximately 15 kilometers downstream at a river intersection where Jordan joins River Yala.
“The family’s fears were sadly confirmed when the search ended Monday evening,” Ouya stated.
