The glitz, the glamour, the promises of forever—none of it could shield Akothee from the heartbreak that lurked behind closed doors.
The Kenyan music queen and fearless entrepreneur, who famously tied the knot with Swiss businessman Denis Schweizer, aka Mister Omosh, in a star-studded wedding just five months ago, has finally opened up about the real reason her marriage crumbled.

In a candid interview on Gidi na Ghost Asubuhi, the 43-year-old mother of five revealed that Omosh had been hiding something no amount of wedding vows or fancy receptions could fix: his struggles with mental health.
What was meant to be a partnership built on love and trust became a shaky house of cards, one secret away from collapse.
“I thought I knew him, but there was something big he kept from me,” Akothee began, her voice steady but layered with the weight of disillusionment. “It wasn’t that he was playing games, but when you find out that someone is hiding something as serious as mental health issues—how do you trust them after that?”
Akothee’s revelation paints a picture of a woman who had been blindsided.

Omosh, she said, never disclosed his battles with a condition resembling bipolar disorder until long after their wedding. By then, it was too late.
“Marriage is no place for secrets,” she continued. “It’s like building a house on quicksand—you think you’re safe, but then everything crumbles. He didn’t tell me his inner truth, and that truth is what destroyed us.”

For Akothee, the betrayal wasn’t in Omosh’s mental health itself—it was in the deception. “If you hide something that big from me, what else are you hiding? How can I wake up every day and not wonder what other lies are sitting in the dark, waiting to be uncovered?”
The betrayal hit harder because of the very public nature of their union.
Just months earlier, the couple had shared what seemed like a picture-perfect wedding, filled with lavish celebrations and all the pomp money could buy.
But behind the curtain, the foundation of their love was cracking.
“I felt embarrassed,” Akothee admitted. “I stood there in front of everyone, thinking we were on the same page, only to find out he was hiding something so big. It made me question everything.”

But even as she spoke of the pain, Akothee was quick to remind everyone that love and life—much like chewing gum—can lose its flavor. “Even Big-G eventually loses its sweetness, and when that happens, you have no choice but to spit it out,” she said, a metaphor that hit home. “Marriages, like anything else, sometimes just come to an end.”
With her trademark wit, Akothee also had a message for men out there: “Don’t play games with women in their 40s. We don’t have time for jokes. We’ve been through enough, and we know what we want. So, if you’re not serious, don’t waste our time.”
