The situation has been particularly harsh for Omollo, who has been living with bipolar disorder for the past 19 years.
She is currently facing eviction due to rent arrears and has lost custody of her son, who is now living with her mother.
“I want to go to the hospital because now I am in my depressive state,” she said tearfully.
“Those who have been following me know I have lived with bipolar for 19 years now. I cannot live without medication and I cannot afford my medication.”

Omollo has deactivated most of her social media accounts amid these struggles but reached out online to seek help for her medication and to find a job.
Her plea has drawn attention and sympathy from the public.
In 2021, she won the Africa Media Health Network Best TV and Overall Health Reporting AFP awards for her coverage on mental health issues.
However, the same year, the pressures of covering the COVID-19 pandemic brought her to the brink of a suicide attempt.
The combined impact of losing her job, custody of her son, and the ongoing mental health challenges has taken a significant toll on Omollo.
She continues to appeal to Kenyans of goodwill to help her through these difficult times, hoping for support both in terms of medication and potential job opportunities.
