In a recent turn of events, Kilifi Police Station has issued a statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding a viral TikTok video depicting a robbery outside its premises.
The video, which circulated widely on social media platforms, purported to show a man being robbed in front of the station.

According to the police report, filed under OB 83/7/05/2024 at 21:15hrs, Roy Rick Otieno, the manager of AP Canteen in Kilifi, reported that the incident was staged as a prank.
Otieno recounted that an individual, accompanied by three others, entered the canteen and requested permission to film inside.
Upon being denied, they proceeded to orchestrate a mock robbery scene.

One person pretended to be intoxicated while two others, riding a motorcycle, simulated a mugging, all while the fourth individual recorded the incident.
The resulting video, posted on TikTok with the username @shabir_shirazy 003, falsely portrayed a robbery occurring near the police station, tarnishing the reputations of both the police officers and the canteen.

The statement further indicated that necessary actions would be taken to address the matter, as the misleading video had caused unwarranted damage to the image of law enforcement in Kilifi.

Earlier, we had reported this story saying that two thieves executed a bold robbery in broad daylight right in front of Kilifi police station.
The story highlighted that the incident was captured on camera and circulated widely on social media, showcasing the assailants’ brazenness in the face of law enforcement.
The victim, a pedestrian whose identity remained undisclosed, fell prey to the thieves as they swiftly approached him on a motorbike.
