Chief of Defense Francis Omondi Ogolla was among the five occupants who tragically perished in a chopper accident this afternoon.
Reports indicate the helicopter was en route from a peace mission in the Sindar area where KDF reconstructing schools when it crashed, and burst into flames.
The crash, which occurred on the border of West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet counties, left only three survivors out of the eight onboard.
The survivors were swiftly airlifted to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

Elgeyo Marakwet County Commandant Peter Mulinge confirmed the crash, noting that the ill-fated aircraft was the first of a convoy departing from Cheptulel area before crash-landing minutes later.
Kenya Defence Forces have secured the crash site for investigations, while government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura assured the public of an imminent official statement on social media.
