Several passengers en route from Wajir to Nairobi found themselves in a harrowing ordeal as their bus was swept away by floodwaters in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Stranded in the deluge, they endured a night of uncertainty and fear.

The incident occurred at Tula area on the Garissa-Mwingi road around 2:00 am, leaving the bus submerged and its occupants stranded.
Despite efforts from local rescue teams, the bus remained ensnared in the floodwaters as of press time.

This calamity comes amidst a broader pattern of flooding along key transportation routes.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) had earlier issued a notice of the closure of the Nairobi-Garissa (A3) Road due to flooding at Mororo area, situated between Madogo and Tana River Bridge.

According to KENHA, the flooding, attributed to rising water levels in the Tana River, has compromised one lane of the road, posing significant safety risks for travelers.
The agency further warned of the increasing water levels in the Seven Folks Dams, urging caution and patience until the waters recede.
