Residents of Juja B estate in Eastleigh are mourning 24-year-old man who was brutally murdered by a boda boda rider.
Hassan Muhumed Abdi, met his death on Friday night, March 8 after an altercation with the rider over KSh 50 fare.
According to Eastleigh Voice, trouble started when Hassan and the boda boda rider disagreed on the fare, with Hassan proposing KSh 100 while the rider insisted on a KSh 150 payment.
The rider is said to have stabbed Hassan during the disagreement which turned out to be fatal.
Friend intervenes
Ilyaas Muhidiin, friend to the deceased tried to intervene during the confrontation and suffered several injuries after also being stabbed.
Muhidiin is currently admitted at Ladnan Hospital with his condition said to be serious.
The attack on Hassan and his friend led to violent altercation between the residents of the estate and boda boda riders.
Police respond swiftly
Police officers from Pangani police station quickly responded and contained the situation before it escalated.
Attempts to save Hassan’s life failed as he had lost blood from the stab wounds, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Care Hospital in California.
His body was taken Abubakar Mosque mortuary and he was later buried on Saturday, March 9 at Langa’ata Muslim cemetery.
