Two police officers are being investigated by their bosses after they raided a residence of a woman searching for Sh20 million that had been stolen from a senator.
The woman told the police that she was tortured and even threatened during the raid that took place at her home in Kamulu.
Police sources said that the senator hails from a county located in Rift Valley. Nairobi Post cannot name him for now.
“She was picked up from her house by five police officers who said that they had been sent by the lawmaker to collect the money,” a police source who spoke in anonymity as he is not authorised to address the media said.
The five cops then went ahead and took USD 15,000 and Sh200,000 from her house. They then demanded to know where the balance was in vain.
According to a statement recorded by the woman, she was in her Ngundu area home when the cops arrived saying that they wanted the money. This happened on Sunday, February 9, 2024.
She said that the officers forcefully gained entry into her house yet they did not have a court order to do so.

The officers then went straight into her bedroom and took the money that was inside a suitcase.
After failing to get the cash, they forced her into a waiting salon car and told her she was being taken to the Njathaini police station in the area.
They left the home and on reaching the Kamulu shopping centre, the driver stopped and two of the officers from the Kamulu police station alighted.
Two others including a woman boarded the car, she told police.
The occupants drove to Ruai and branched to Mwiki near the local police station but did not stop.
The woman told police the occupants kept demanding the balance of the money they claimed she had.
She said that she was taken back to her home on Monday morning.
Currently, police officers attached to Kamulu Police Station are investigating the matter. This is after she reported the case at the station and senior officers visited the scene.
Already, two police officers have been identified and are said to be attached to Njathaini police station, which is within the Mwiki area.
The woman also identified the car that was used during the raid at her home. The vehicle is parked within Njathaini Police Station yard.
Currently, the two officers are being grilled by their bosses and are being asked to name their colleagues who were in the raid.
In addition, the case of the stolen Sh20 million has not been reported at any police station.
The woman said she would seek medical attention following her ordeal at the hands of the cops.
