Police in Kikuyu, Kiambu County are investigating the death of their colleague who was on Wednesday found dead in a bar.
Julius Kaimenyi who was attached to Tourist Police Unit (TPU) in Nairobi was found dead while seated on a chair.
Already, sleuths attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have questioned a number of staff who work in the bar that has been described as busy.
“So far it has been established that he started vomiting and was assisted to seat by workers and other revelers. They believed that he will be okay after some time but this never happened,” an officer privy to the ongoing investigations said.
Witnesses have so far informed the police that Kaimenyi appeared very jovial and was even dancing inside the bar.
However, at some point he started vomiting and appeared uneasy which prompted the manager to issue an order that he is placed on a couch.
It is emerging that other revelers could later in the night leave the bar and he was left in the company of those working at the joint.
When they realized that the deceased was unresponsive a decision to call the police was made.
The police say that once they arrived at the joint, they found their colleague dead. In addition, he had vomited allover his clothes.
The body was taken to a morgue in Kikuyu and his family informed of what had transpired.
Plans are currently underway to conduct a postmortem on the body so as to ascertain what caused the death.
An officer privy to the ongoing investigations told this reporter that the bar attendants and manager have recorded statement and they said that he never took any meal or drink in the joint.
“Currently, the police are trying to get any reveler who was in the joint when the incident took place,” said the officer.
Over the weekend, another officer was found dead inside his house in Vihiga County.
Police said that the officer was on official duty when he passed away. The cause of death I yet to be established.
Constable Geoffrey Kipapi who was attached to the local Magada Patrol base had been on duty on January 11 before he retired to his house in Mulele village within Muhanda sub-location.
According to his colleagues the deceased went straight to his house after finishing his daily duties.
His family said that he was found unresponsive while on bed. Blood was oozing from his nose and mouth.
