- Police in Ongata Rongai have impounded two matatus, including the controversial MoneyFest reportedly linked to George Ruto for reckless driving
- A viral video showed the overloaded matatus swerving dangerously, with passengers hanging from windows and perched on roofs, sparking nationwide outrage online
- NTSA has since seized the vehicles’ number plates as Kenyans demand accountability for the blatant lawlessness
Ongata Rongai residents woke up to shocking news as police impounded two matatus, including the infamous MoneyFest matatu reportedly linked to President William Ruto’s son, George Ruto.
The vehicles were captured in a now-viral video recklessly swerving through traffic along the Karen-Rongai Road, causing uproar across social media platforms.
The Isuzu buses, registration numbers KDQ 111T (MoneyFest) and KDG 195K (Ambush), violated multiple traffic rules, endangering lives by overloading passengers, some seen precariously perched on roofs and hanging from windows.
Alarmingly, footage shows a traffic police officer ignoring the blatant violations, sparking questions about law enforcement’s integrity.
Owned by 1998 Technologies and Expreso Limited, respectively, the matatus were seized following swift action by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), which inspected the vehicles and confiscated their number plates.

Renowned activist Willie Oeba expressed the nation’s frustration, tweeting, “Kama Kenya kuna law, then hii Money Fest ya Mtoto wa Kasongo iko above the law!” Others voiced their disdain, accusing the NTSA and the government of enabling such lawlessness.
One user lashed out, writing, “Corrupt politicians and their children thrive in broken systems. Why can’t those in power teach their own children good manners first?”
