Oga Obinna has officially hired former Citizen TV journalist Kimani Mbugua to join Obinna TV.
Kimani, whose career had taken a backseat following his brave and public battle with bipolar disorder, will begin his new role in January 2025, marking a significant comeback to the limelight.
During a candid interview on Obinna TV, Obinna revealed that this hiring decision goes beyond business.
“I want to help Kimani reintroduce himself to the media industry, give him a fresh start, and help him find a steady source of income,” Obinna shared.

Kimani will head the current affairs department and oversee digital content streamlining at Obinna Studios, giving him a pivotal role in shaping the station’s direction.

In October 2024, Kimani celebrated a major milestone in his recovery journey after being discharged from rehab.
His progress caught the attention of former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, who highlighted Kimani’s resilience by sharing a touching video of him singing Sauti Sol’s “Feel My Love” with a beaming smile.
